biographies

Vincent Boy Kars

Vincent Boy Kars (1990) is a filmmaker from Rotterdam known for his bold and innovative storytelling. After graduating from St. Joost School of Art & Design with My First Porn Film (2015), he created his acclaimed millennial trilogy: Independent Boy (2017), Drama Girl (2020) and Future Me (2024). These hybrid documentaries blend fiction and reality to explore the identity struggles and existential questions of his generation. Kars is recognized as one of the most daring voices in contemporary Dutch cinema. Combining his skills as a writer, director and editor, his conceptual and deeply personal approach places real people in cinematic constructions, resulting in intimate character studies that probe the human psyche and the potential for transformation.

Beau Zwart

Beau Zwart (1995) is a Rotterdam-based producer, performer, DJ and film composer. Introduced to music through classical piano in his childhood, he began composing early, later incorporating jazz and electronic influences into both his productions and live performances. He graduated in Music and Technology from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2019 and has released music on labels such as INI Movement, Fluid Funk, Midnight Riot Records and Beau De Toilette. Beau has performed at festivals including Noorderslag, Grasnapolsky and North Sea RT, hosts a monthly radio show (BZ Radio) on Operator Radio, and has composed music for films shown at IDFA, NFF and IFFR, including the feature films Future Me and Drama Girl.

Rutger Nijkamp

Rutger Nijkamp (1997) is a Rotterdam-based filmmaker and DJ. Since graduating from the Willem de Kooning Academy in 2022, he has developed a docufiction practice exploring psychological themes such as identity and creativity. He is currently developing two short films. Recently, he directed two documentary seasons of Kom Binnen! for OPEN Rotterdam, featuring portraits of distinctive specialty shops across the city. Alongside doing commissioned work, he DJs, hosts a bi-montly Operator show and curates underground Dutch synth and wave music for his project Het Vreemd, released on World of Paint.
